You need not enter the entire case name. Try using a key
word or words, e.g., Good News, instead
of Good News Club v Milford Central School.
The case names are not case sensitive and you need not enter capital letters.
For example, you may enter, good news
Omit all punctuation. Never use a period, comma, apostrophe,
colon, semicolon, or quotation mark.
Do not use a hyphen, but substitute a space. For example
enter Simmons Harris, not
Simmons-Harris, enter Rent A Car,
not Rent-A-Car.
Except as noted afterwards, do not abbreviate words; always
spell them out in full. Enter Saint,
Department, and New York;
do not abbreviate St,
Dept and NY. When
IncCo and Corp appear
at the end of a party's name, they should be omitted from the search terms.
When a word such as Corporation is not
the last word in a party's name, spell it out in full.
You must substitute the following
abbreviations or terms. ACLU = American Civil Liberties Union CIR = Commissioner of Internal Revenue DOC = Department of Corrections EEOC = Equal Employment Opportunities Commission
(or) U.S. Equal Employment Opportunities Commission In re = Matter of
INS = Immigration and Naturalization Service People = People of the State of. While you
should simply enter People, and not the term People of the State of,
you
must enter People
ex rel as in People ex rel Sarkis. Of course it would be best to simply
enter Sarkis YMCA or YMWA = Young Men's Christian
Association or Young Women's Chirstian Association
Always spell out United States. Do not
add the words “of America.” Never use the abbreviations US or
USA.
